Remote Work for Business Continuity

from | 25 Mar 2020 | News, Information Technology

Business Continuity Planning (or “Business Continuity and Resilience Planning”) is the process of creating prevention and recovery systems to address potential threats to a business. An organization's resilience to business interruption is "the ability ... to withstand changes in its environment and continue to operate." Often referred to as resilience, it is a capability that allows companies to either endure environmental changes without having to permanently adapt, or to be forced to adapt to a new way of working that better suits the new environmental conditions.

Before the Corona crisis, we were discussing and planning what would happen if the computers stopped working. Today, people can't go to the office for work, not computers.

What we need to keep our business running working from home;

  1. VoIP call center: We must remain connected to our company's call center. To be able to receive incoming calls, to forward calls to internal colleagues, to use it as when in the office.
  2. Collaboration and teamwork: When from home, how will we discuss, collaborate with our colleagues? With the use of new technologies we can share our screen collectively and bi-directionally. We can edit our texts at the same time and we can participate in corporate meetings just like from the office
  3. Meetings and presentations with more than two people: After all, is there a reason to meet for the presentation of my products or services? I will also invite you via an online video meeting, I will achieve my goal and remain formally dressed.
  4. Secure Remote Desktop Connections: The most secure way to use your client-server application, the entire office desktop without losing printing capabilities. You can choose where to print, locally or not.
  5. Shared server files, email and calendars: Wherever you are, with a predefined level of security you can access your office files at any time without losing collaboration capabilities. This is perhaps the most amazing thing that today's technologies can offer.

These are what we need to keep our business alive when working from our home or vacation home. Today's technologies provide the solution we need. the only thought, the only question that might remain could be:

Can I trust my employees to have so much corporate data available offline?

There are many answers and methods for securing your corporate data. The question is, are you sure they didn't have a copy of these until today?
